A new battery usually maintains a discharged or 30% charge condition with very low capacity. It is highly recommended to fully charge new battery packs before using.
A new battery pack needs to be cycled (fully discharge and charge) two to three times to reach its optimum performance.
Rechargeable batteries will undergo self-discharging when left unused for a long period of time. Thus it should always be stored in a fully charged state and kept in a cool, dry and clean place.
To maintain the optimum performance of a battery pack, it is highly recommended to cycle it (fully discharging and charging) at least once a month.
It is normal if a new battery gets warm when being charged or used. However, please pay special attention if the battery pack becomes excessively hot.
Don't discharge the battery to 0%, which is the most common reason among faulty batteries.
Charge the battery before it runs to 20%. It is scientifically justified that charging a battery from 20% to 80% will extend battery life to the longest.
If the battery won't be used for a long time, please charge it once a month and keep battery power over 50%, remove it from your laptop and store it in an antistatic bag in a cool, dry place.

Do use the Suspend or Hibernate feature when taking a break.
Do minimize the number of programs and/or applications running at the same time.
Do set the Windows Power Management settings to maximum savings.
Do lower the brightness setting on the screen backlight.
Do disconnect any unused devices such as modems, wireless cards, Bluetooth and USB devices.
Do store batteries in a dry, cool place at a 30-50% charge level.
Do fully charge/discharge the battery up to 4 cycles before achieving full capacity of a new battery.
Do remove the battery from the laptop and store it in a cool, dry, clean place if the battery will not be in use for a month or longer.
Do avoid exposing the battery to extreme heat and cold, moisture or water, and chemical liquid.

Don't short-circuit a battery. A short-circuit may cause damage to the battery.
Don't drop, hit or otherwise abuse the battery as this may result in the exposure of the cell contents, which are corrosive.
Don't expose the battery to moisture or rain. Keep the battery away from fire or other sources of extreme heat or cold. Do not freeze your battery.
Don't leave your laptop on overnight all the time while charging.
Don't throw away or dispose of your battery with household waste. Please recycle all batteries.
Don't incinerate. Exposure of batteries to extreme heat may result in an explosion.
Don't forget to take away your battery from the device if you will not use it for a long time.
